Everybody in the whole word have ideas popping in and out on a regular basis So if people have ideas all the time, the question still remains, why aren’t they inventors? The word of the day is Horological. It simply means the study of time’s measurement.
Luxury car brands are known for collaborating with watch makers to release high quality watches that take inspiration from cars. But there is not a single company that can beat the seriousness and dedication to horology the way Porsche does view more here!
They have utterly reshape the watch industry drastically. But how did they do this? By joining both function and form. This is the design philosophy of Bauhaus. And that any object’s form cannot be separated from the function and the other way around.
Ferdinand couldn’t just settle for making cars alone. He wanted to take his design skills to the next level.
He left his family business to pursue his dream and that’s when he established Porsche Design. What’s his very first product you say? A simple wristwatch.
Nobody before 1972 wore a black wristwatch or even bothered to wear a black one to be exact. Ferdinand was looking around and saw that the traditional leather or gold wristwatches were somewhat lacking something. His first creation was a booming success, it was a black steel and a bracelet.

He didn’t think of any fancy names. He called his wristwatch the Chronograph. The design of the watch took inspiration from airplane gauges.
In order for an analogue watch to be functional you must be able to quickly tell the time with just a small glance. The black face of the watch coupled with its white markers made this much easier to do.
The design is timeless. The watch still looks just as fresh as it did many years ago.
